Company Trip

After a few weeks of tests and assignment,
we finally can have a short Sem break before the final exam
1 Week Holiday!

Just before my 1 Week Holiday
I went for a company trip organized by Monash Accounting Club
We visited 2 famous company

The first company is...
Just a brieft introduce about this company
It is one of the largest professional services firms in the world
and one of the Big Four auditors
along with Deloitte, Ernst & Young and PwC.

They are actually offering 3 lines of services
Audit, Tax and Advisory

Honestly
I am actually not aware that KPMG is one of the Big Four auditors
all I know is the Ernst & Young
However, after a 3 hours tour in the company
I start to realize what are the job scope for Auditors about
It is actually quite a hectic job
Of course, hard work paid off.
The 1st question I asked is
"How much will an Auditor earn per month approximately?"
For fresh degree graduates, it is around $2600
"So what's highest level income can an Parter earn in Auditors Firm earn?"
It is around 1 - 3 million per year.
"So how long could a person takes to reach that level"
It is depends on your capabilities and the amount of hard work had that you put in,
One of the youngest partner in KPMG is only 29 years old as he start at 19 years old.
And this is the fastest time for the time being for one to reached partner level.

The working environment at is very stressful
All you can see is stacks and stacks of file on top of the employee table
They looks really stressful
may be this explained why they are one of the Big Four Auditors

After visiting KPMG
We went over to visit the second company
BASF is one of the world leading chemical company
Malaysia's BASF is establishing a shared service centre
Stop there!
You guys must be wondering why is Chemical Company do with me
as I am a Accounting and Finance student.
However, every company needs accounting and finance department
however BASF Malaysia is a shared service centre
so called a main service centre
It provides support services in
financial and accounting, Information technology/information services and human resources
to BASF subsidiaries and affiliates in 15 countries in Asia Pacific.

Basically, the difference between BASF and KPMG is the working environment
I felt the BASF has a better working environment compared to KPMG
Their wall is very colorful and even their room name is unique
unlike other company
their room name is actually the country name
e.g. Korea, Japan, Australia, Kuala Lumpur and etc.

The interesting part about BASF is that they are actually having this program
That actually train fresh graduates for 2 years
and if after 2 years
he/she gets through the test or requirement
he/she can promote to become manager
It sounds "fast" and interesting
and you know is not that easy
but it is not impossible though

It is a good experience after the company trip
One important things that I forgot to mention about is
In order to work with them
one of the requirement is that your GPA has to be more than 3.2

3.2 is quite a high achievement as you has
consistently get Distinction for 3 years
which means for all the 24 units for Monash Business Students
you have to get at least a Distinction for every units.

Anyway, I personally think that GPA is really just a passport to interview
It only shows that you can study well, you are very hardworking
but if you just happen to throw a stone to the competitive world out there
everyone is at least a degree holder and some are double degrees

So, seriously,
How are you going to fight with them?
By participating co-coriculmum activities? Yes you can
By studying oversea? Yes you can, as you can get a greater exposure.
and there are more.
Do you think GPA is important?
Do you think participating CCA is essential?
Do you think studying oversea would make you a better chances then?
The Answer is a Yes.
BUT
Do you know why?

NEXT Entrepreneur Program

Woke up by a morning call at 8am this morning, get prepared as usual, and heading to Taylors College to facilitate an Entrepreneurship Program held by Money Tree again - NEXT.

So What's NEXT?

Next is a platform in which participants can learn about the stages and processes involved in getting a Company Listed on NEXT via a Simulation, "list their companies" & have other participants TRADE their stocks.

Reach there at 9am. Went to Room G02. After 10 mins of preparation, I saw Jolene, the founder of MOB. I was so happy to see her there actually, cause at least got someone can guide me through my 1st facilitating session. Few minutes later, her partner, SuZhen came too! It was really awesome to work with them.

After we set up everything, the person in-charge of the room was like asking us to shift room to Room B17, due to some internal issues. We were like okay, cool. Lets change then. Joy.

After we moved to Room B17, set up the registration table, video cam and arrange the table, we realized that the air-con is not working! which means, we have to change room again! Indeed, the person in-charge shift us to another room. Luckily this time is just shifting to the next door(:

Everyone came in one after another after registration, some comes in groups, some comes alone. It reminds me when I start joining the YES3 competition last year. Came into the room group by group...

The session was delayed due to the room problem, but it goes perfectly smooth after-all. Throughout the whole sessions, I actually learn some new things and unlearning the old things as well. This is what I find the most interesting part about learning. It sometimes refresh my memories, change my perceptions about the ideas towards Entrepreneurs in my mind.

Just wanna share 1 key to success here,

"When you start moving, don't stop, you just have to keep moving."

I don't think I need to explain or elaborate much about the sentence above. It tells from the sentences right? (:

Sometimes, a simple sentence like that can inspire me, can motivates me to move to a higher level, or may be, I am at the state of being.

There was a Business Stimulation game after our lunch. It was a very nice game actually, on top of that, I am in the same group with both Jolene and Su Zhen, how great isn't it? There are a total 8 groups. At the first 3 and 4th round, we were like losing and rank at last. But after the 7th round, our team is like doing extremely well and went all the way up to the 1st after the 1st session today! Good Job Jolene and Su Zhen! (: Looking forward to carry on NEXT week.

Alright, after a day session in Taylors, I shall go back to my studies already.

BECAUSE, I have 3 TESTs next week!!

Cool right? Good luck for me and my friends(:

Till then. Cheers.

Yes! March, The beginning of Year 2 Sem 1

Yes
If you know our gang well,
You will notice 1 person is missing from the photo taken above
which is our beloved friend,
CHA!
Wye Sern!

Yes
I miss him very much,
Although it sounds gay,
but I have to admit that without the presence of him,
is kinda boring= =
Anyway, hope he is doing well in Australia.

Sem 2 Started,
How amazing that I am taking 4 units of AFW!
which I am definitely not very good in it.
Have to work very very hard really
(but honesty I haven been doing a lot after 5 weeks)
Have to buck up!

One of the reason might be playing too much of this (:

Only you

Ikea's food is always nice(:

Behind every truth, there may be a hidden lie. And behind every lie, there may be a hidden truth.
